Body Butter Base (True butter/oil product)

Body Butter Base (True butter/oil product)

Please note that this recipe is to make a true body butter rather than the thick cream that is sold commercially under this name.

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Melt cocoa butter in microwave oven.
  2. Add other ingredients and heat until shea butter is soft.
  3. Mix with a hand beater until fluffy peaks form. This is a butter not a cream, and as such will return to a butter consistency. This product is good in cooler weather as it is fine at room temps but will melt outside in hot weather.

Hi Maz,
I would go with the mango butter as it is a closer consistency to the shea butter.
Maybe sub more jojoba for the evening primrose.

I have ran out of shea butter but I still have cocoa and mango butters. Can I use these to substitute for shea butter while waiting for my order to arrive in the New Year? What can I use to substitute evening primrose oil? I have jojoba, rosehip, sweet almond, and hemp oil. Thanks so much and Happy Holidays!

Hi Maz,
Not really. There is only so much an antioxidant can do to extend the life of an oil, but there will be no harm if you like the idea of them both being in there.

Kerry Pearson

If I added both ROE and Vitamin E, will this extend the product even longer than when only one type is added? Thanks.

Maz

Hi Ally,
This will have a best before of the date of your first ending oil. You could add 0.1% rosemary extract or vitamin E to get another 3-4 months out of it if you wished. (Add below 25ºC)
