Scented Moisturiser Using Base Products

How to Make Scented Moisturiser with Heirloom Body Care Bases

Creating your own scented moisturiser is simple with our pre-made Lotion Base, Cream Base, and Body Butter. Each option varies in viscosity and richness, so you can choose the best one based on your skin’s needs:

What You’ll Need

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare Your Base

  • Weigh out the desired amount of moisturiser base into a clean mixing bowl.
  • Ensure you only take what you need, keeping the main container free from contamination.

2. Add Colour (Optional)

  • If you’d like a tinted moisturiser, add a small amount of cosmetic-grade mica or liquid soap dye.
  • Mix thoroughly until the colour is evenly dispersed.

3. Select & Add Your Scent

Before adding fragrance or essential oils, check the IFRA document (Section 5A) for the maximum safe usage level. If permitted, follow these general guidelines:

  • Essential Oils: Up to 1.5% max
  • Fragrance Oils: Up to 0.5% max

👉 Example: If you are scenting 100g of base, you can use:

  • Up to 1.5g of essential oil
  • Up to 0.5g of fragrance oil

Add the oil gradually, stirring well after each addition to ensure even distribution.

4. Mix Thoroughly

  • Stir or whisk the mixture gently but thoroughly until fully combined.
  • Avoid vigorous mixing, as this can introduce air bubbles.

5. Transfer to a Container

  • Scoop your scented moisturiser into a clean, dry container with an airtight lid.
  • Label with the date and ingredients used.

6. Enjoy & Store Properly

  • Apply as needed for hydrated, beautifully scented skin.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Important Notes

✅ Always check the IFRA safety guidelines before adding fragrance.
✅ Keep water out of the base to prevent contamination.
